Subzero Projects (formerly Subzero Coldrooms) have been designing & constructing coldrooms, freezers & wine rooms for 20 years for the residential & commercial market.
Late last year Subzero projects were approached by the owner of Delizioso in Bulimba – Brad Nascone, to design & construct a glass walled, temperature controlled wine room, (as well as a bar and kitchen coldroom) at their new restaurant – Delizioso, The Strand, Coolangatta.
The design brief from the owners was for a wine room that could be viewed from the dining area by guests whilst the wine was kept in a temperature controlled environment. Having previously won a Glass in the Gourmet Traveller Wine List of the Year Awards, It was of the utmost importance that the wine room would showcase their incredible selection of over 300 varieties of red, white and sparkling wines from Italy, Australia and New Zealand that Sommelier, Nick Dempster, had hand picked.

To compliment the warm colours, stained wood ceiling and polished timber floor through-out the restaurant, Brett Sherrin from Subzero Projects suggested “Night Sky” insulated panel walls and ceiling to the interior and exterior of the room to accentuate the wine displayed.
The glass viewing windows installed were heated to prevent any condensation issues in the Queensland humidity. Glass viewing windows are custom and can be manufactured to suit most size designs.
”During the whole process we found that Subzero Projects was instrumental in the organisation and completion of the project, Whilst we had areas that were an issue with the design Subzero made the whole process easy and worked within the schedule which changed a few times.
All of the work done by Subzero has been to a high quality and functionality to the business especially the Wine Room.
The finalised product has been an amazing part of my new business and looking back and forward we could not have done the build and continuation of the Restaurant without their help and knowledge.”
